When I fell ill in 1999 when living in Moruya, one of the recuperative measures I engaged was art - which proved very soothing, satisfying and calming.
This led to Basil Sellers providing funding for the Basil Sellers Art Centre in Moruya (2003) followed by the 2004 Moruya Basil Sellers $15,000 Art Prize along with a junior art program and the Country Town Tours' engaging the art communities. When we relocated to Tweed Heads we opened in 2007 the Basil Sellers Tweed Art Studio.
In 2006 the Basil Sellers $100,000 Sport Art Prize was established at the Ian Potter Museum of Art at Melbourne University.
Basil Sellers mentored my art and numbers of my art works now hang in the Basil Sellers private collection.
In 2013 the Basil Sellers $2000 Midge Point Art Prize was established as a community project of Well-Being Australia - Midge Point is a small rural community on the Whitsundays mainland - the place of our Basil Sellers Laguna Quays Respite cottage.
Art continues to be part of the holistic medical and pastoral oversight to my overall health.
